The life story of Jan Kaplický
The film Eye Above Prague (Oko nad Prahou) is the personal and political biography of the ‘Octopus’, more formally known as the National Library in Prague, but it is also a biography of the architect of the project Jan Kaplický, especially of his final years, who included in his 1998 diary the words: win the competition and have one love!
With this entry, read aloud at the introduction to the film by Eliška
Kaplicky, it is as if the world renowned architect not only wrote the
script for the final decade of his life, but also for the film, which
follows the dramatic and socially-significant story of his creative
imagination and also an intimate portrait of the relationship between a
man and woman.
